SUMMARY:Introduction to Bonsai (Module I)
DESCRIPTION:  \nModern behavioral neuroscience experiments require us to synchronize multiple data streams\, precisely deliver stimuli\, and – quite often – to do everything in a closed-loop setting. The fact that different devices use different software doesn’t make this task easier. \nOne of the best – and open – solutions to those challenges is Bonsai\, a reactive programming language that allows you to collect data from multiple systems\, from calcium imaging\, through sound recordings to sensors and control output devices – such as feeders\, motors\, or stimulus delivery systems. It is easy to learn and implement and robust. \nIn the first part of our 3-module online course\, we will introduce you to the basics of Bonsai – its logic and potential applications. You will also learn how to track animals during experiments\, detect their presence in ROIs\, run closed-loop paradigms and perform basic logical operations. \nReuirements: we do not require any previous knowledge of programming. Windows operating system and a webcam are necessary. \nThe workshop fee is EUR 10\, but we offer fee waivers in case of need. \nContact us at openlab@nencki.edu.pl in case of any questions! \nInstructor: Mateusz Kostecki\, Heidelberg University
